Artist’s Commission from Hawkins Brown and Hammerson PLC for a planned city centre redevelopment.
Artist’s brief was to look at ideas for roof lines, and window treatments for a retained frontage. The artist proposed filling the retained frontage windows with the black and patterned brickwork pattern from the newbuild that was to surround it. This concept evolved into to a bespoke pattern that would thread through the retained frontage. Victorian and early Edwardian tile and brickwork designs from London Underground were looked at in the design process.
